Oakland Members of the "Hall of Fame"

There is no greater area for professional sports heroes and “Hall of Famers” in every major and amateur sport, than the City of Oakland. The following is a sample of major league prominent members of the various “Halls of Fame”. We have begun the process which will showcase Oakland Sports History and amateur and professional sports happenings in and near our city. Please note that we have hall of “famers” in other sports both amateur and professional and halls of fame at each of our local high schools and colleges. The following is just a small sample.

Al Davis
Owner of the Oakland Raiders and a Hall of Famer
John Madden
  Former coach of Raiders and one of the most respected football television commentators, lives in the Bay Area

George Blanda

Willie Brown
  Seasons: 1967-1978 Year Inducted: 1984
Gene Upshaw

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Al Attles

A legacy with the Warriors Franchise as a player, coach and administrator. Currently.Vice President of the Warriors. He was coach of the 74-75 world Championship team.

Wilt Chamberlin
  One of the greatest players who ever lived made many records at Golden State on his way to the Hall of Fame
Nate Thurman
  This Hall of Fame member was voted one of the 50 greatest players in history.
Rick Barry
  Barry is among the leaders in every statistical category and is a member of the “Hall”

OAKLAND ATHLETICS

Reggie Jackson

Most of his career was with the “A”s, Mr. October is one of the greatest players of the game and in the Hall of Fame

Catfish Hunter
  One of the greatest players of all time and an early Hall of Famer
Joe Morgan
  This member of the Hall of Fame is a current ESPN Sportscaster and lives in the Bay Area. He is an alumnus of California State University, Hayward.
Dennis Eckersley   Born in 1954 in Oakland, CA. In his twelve year career, Dennis saved over 400 games, leading his hometown Oakland A’s to the American League West titles and earning both Cy Young and MVP honors in 1992.
